Crooner Reminisce explains why beef is rampant in rap

OGUN born rapper, Remilekun Safaru, popularly known as Reminisce is steaming hot right now, with so many singles enjoying air play at the moment and an album around the corner.  ENCOMIUM Weekly spoke with the Kako bi chicken crooner on his album, beef with Vector and much more…

What have you been up to?

I have been busy recording and gearing up for my sophomore album.  It’s a lot of work and I want to put my all into it because I don’t want to disappoint my fans.

Your new singles are doing quite well, how do you feel about it?

I feel great anytime I put songs out and people like and enjoy it.  It’s my duty to make my fans happy and enjoy my music. That’s why I put in so much hard work before I release a song.  It’s a privilege.

What would you say led to this success?

I would say it’s hard work, consistency and my ability to distinct myself from the bunch.  I don’t rush to release songs.  I take my time and work on any music I want to release.

What inspired your song, Fantasy?

I just wanted to try out something different. I am in love with fuji music, so I decided to try something out.

There are so many Yoruba music acts springing up, how did you cope with competition?

As far as I am concerned, there is nothing like competition. I think my versatility will always see me through.  I am not in any competition with any artiste.

You and Vector recently had an issue, we learnt you settled it.  What’s your relationship like now?

Cool, we are cool.

We learnt your song, Kako bi chicken was banned, how true is it?

I am not sure about what really happened, but whatever it is, it’s a big song and will always remains that way.  I have no issue and I am not disturbed.

What’s your deal with Edge Records?

I am not signed to Edge Records though, I am managed by Ibrahim Okulaja of Edge Entertainment.  I am on my own, I just have a very good relationship with Edge.

What’s the name of your own label?

I have my own label, it’s called LRR (Les Roses Rouges).  French for red roses.

So many artistes now have endorsements, do you think brand endorsements reflect the success of an artiste?

No!

Why do you think rappers always have beef for one another?

It’s the normal thing in rap music, it’s just like that.  It happens regularly.

It seems you are more comfortable performing outside Lagos, Ibadan precisely, is there any special reason for this?

I do all South Western states, I also perform in Abuja because the pay is better.
