Daniel Craig’s 4 James Bond movies in view as actor bows out

Fans of popular fiction series, Ian Fleming’s James Bond are looking forward to the unveiling of a new character to fill the vacant ‘Agent 007’ boots.

This is as Daniel Craig, the much loved actor who has played the character from 2005 when he took over from Pierce Brosnan rejected a lucrative offer to continue in the role.

He recently rejected a mouth watering £68million offer from MGM studio to return as James Bond for two more films following last year’s hit Spectre.

Here is a list of the four highly successful Bond movies Daniel starred in before calling it quits.

  1. Casino Royale: Daniel Craig shot to international fame when he was chosen as the sixth actor to play the James Bond role in the official film series, taking over from Pierce Brosnan in 2005. Although his casting was initially greeted with skepticism, his debut was highly acclaimed and earned him a BAFTA award nomination, with Casino Royale becoming the highest-grossing in the series at the time.

2.   Quantum of Solace: Daniel Craig’s second performance as James Bond. His physical training for the role placed extra effort into running and boxing, to spare him the injuries he sustained on his stunts in the first film. Craig felt he was fitter, being less bulky than in the first film. He also practised speedboating and stunt driving. Craig felt Casino Royale was [physically] “a walk in the park” compared to Quantum of Solace, as he suffered a gash when kicked in his face, which required eight stitches, and a fingertip was sliced off.

3. Skyfall: Craig’s third Bond film, Skyfall, premiered in 2012 and is currently the highest-grossing film in the series, as well as the highest-grossing film in the UK and the twelfth-highest-grossing film of all time. The story centres on Bond investigating an attack on MI6; the attack is part of a plot by former MI6 agent Raoul Silva to humiliate, discredit and kill M as revenge against her for betraying him.

4. Spectre: Craig’s fourth Bond film, Spectre, premiered in 2015 and is the twenty-fourth James Bond film. The story sees Bond pitted against the global criminal organisation Spectre as he attempts to thwart their plan to hijack a global surveillance network, and discovers Spectre was behind the events of the other three films starring Craig.

Daniel Craig also made a guest appearance as Bond in the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, alongside Queen Elizabeth II.
