Darey, Kelly Rowland, others deliver unforgettable performances at Love Like A Movie 2

+ How technical hitch almost marred the concert

Just like the maiden edition held in 2013, Nigeria’s king of R&B, Darey Art Alade’s Love Like A Movie II will remain in the minds of many music buffs for a long time, as the biggest and most innovative concert of our time. It was once again unforgettable experiences for the crowd that thronged Oceanview Restaurant, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, February 15, 2014.

The jaw dropping show which featured International music star, Kelly Rowland left everyone spell bound with some of the most epic theatric displays ever witnessed in Nigeria. Nigerian superstars including JJC, Waje, Tiwa Savage, among others, didn’t disappoint as they thrilled and ignited the stage.

With performances from former Destiny Child member, Kelly Rowland, guests could not help but scream for more as they chanted Kelly’s name after she performed hit songs off the Destiny Child platinum record like Motivation, Bump Like This, Survivor, Jumpin, Independent woman, among many other monster tracks.

The international star’s performances was halted on two occasions after what was later termed “technical hitch” by Darey, who publicly apologized to his teeming fans, comically saying, God must shame my enemies. An upset Kelly (clothed by Deola Sagoe’s clan) walked off the stage, but returned to continue from where she stopped.

Unlike previous events where such happened, the scenario did not bother many fans, especially those that attended the maiden edition, as many believed that it’s unusual. Hence, waited patiently to see the gigantic stage come to life, as they grooved along for the rest of the night.

Darey Art Alade was not left out in the fun as he opened the show in a spectacular way, coming down from the sky in a disco cube. Also later performing hit songs like Special Fever, Lady in Red, Just Like A Movie and other tracks, guests marvelled at the spectacular scenery that followed every performance.

With other pulsating thrillers from Waje, Tiwa Savage, Eva, Muna, Timi Dakolo, JJC, Ariel Dancers, among others, as well as multi concept costumes and a 250 feet crane, guests went home full of life and in full anticipation for Love Like A Movie 3.

While Waje performed Whitney Houston’s Always Love You, Tiwa Savage wowed fans as she did her version of Whitney Houston’s song, Am Ur Baby Tonight.” After her mind-blowing performance, Muna took to twitter the following morning, saying, “Last night was mad trill.” Rapper, Eva also reminded us that she’s also a good raggae artiste, as she didn’t fail. Other big performers included Soul Muzik signees, Mo Eazy and Zaina who showed great talent and energy as they premiered their new tracks, Sarewagba and Raggabomi.

“It was indeed a night to remember. So grateful to everyone who came out for Love Like A Movie 2. I was overwhelmed by the love and support my team and I have received so far and we cannot wait to blow your minds next season!” Darey said after the show.

Notable faces included international singer, Brandy, Managing Director, UBA, Phillip Oduoza, MD, Nigerian Breweries, Nicholas Verveldi, former Cross River State first lady, CEO, Sahara Group, Tonye Cole, Mai Atafo, Dede Mabiaku, DJ Jimmy Jatt, DJ Spinall, Sound Sultan, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, Sasha, Bez, Yemi Sax, Lambogini, among many others.
