Davido’s ‘Aye’ is the most-watched Nigerian music video on Youtube for 2014 – Beats P Square, Wizkid, Patoranking to top shot – Yemi Alade only female on the list

Coming as no surprise at all, the visuals for pop sensation Davido’s Aye has emerged the most-watched Nigerian music video released in 2014 on online video sharing site, Youtube – crowning a stellar year for the crooning 22-year-old.

The video is one of only two which crossed 10 million-views mark in 2014 after garnering over 12 million views. The other being Yemi Alade’s Johnny.

1 Davido – Aye

Not long after its February 2014 release, online video watchers caught the buzz, making it their favourite. At the last count, the Clarence Peters-shot visuals has been viewed 12,925,923 times. The video features cameos from fast-rising act, Runtown and Davido’s record label mate, B Red playing the role of a prince whose love interest fancies Davido (a farmer) over him.


2 Yemi Alade – Johnny

Curvy Yemi Alade, the only female on the list, has had an amazing 2014! Her smash hit, Selebobo, produced Johnny is one of the songs which still reverberates at parties and occasions, months after its release. The video
for the song – also shot by Clarence Peters – has 10,178,621 views since its March 2014 release.

3 P Square – Taste the money.(Testimony)

The singing and dancing identical twin brothers of P Square have every reason to smile in 2014. They did not only produce chart-topping visuals to their hits; they also, after a three-year long hiatus, dropped their sixth album entitled Double Trouble. The video for Taste the money, shot by the duo’s elder brother, Jude ‘Engees’ Okoye in South Africa – has been viewed 6,101,550 times since its May 2014 release.


4 Bracket – Mama Africa

The duo of Bracket, the Yori Yori crooners, started the year on a good note with the January release of the visuals for their high-life/dance single Mama Africa which went on to be watched 5,753,214 times.

 

5 Davido ft. Mafikizolo – Tchelete

Nigeria and South Africa came together to create this beautiful tune called Tchelete (Good life). The visuals for the hit was shot by Godfather Productions and featured dramatic costumes. It currently has 4,793,293 views.


6 Mavins – Dorobucci

Prolific producer, Don Jazzy-led Mavin Records got dancefloors across Nigeria rocking to hit single, Dorobucci. The Mavins featuring the boss himself Don Jazzy; the beautiful and award-winning songstress Tiwa Savage; recently-married Dr SID; OYO singer D’Prince; and hot prospects Reekado Banks, Korede Bello and Di’Ja all took their turns to Doro-lize the track. The visuals for the hit, shot by Nic Roux on location in South Africa, was doro as many would agree having been watched 4,007,169 times.


7 Wizkid – Show you the money

Star boy, Wizkid retraced his steps to his Surulere, Lagos roots to shoot the visuals for this Shizzi-produced hit, Show you the money. Director, Patrick Elis delivered crisp-clear pictures and the video now has 2,912,387 views since it was released in July 2014.

8 Patoranking ft Tiwa Savage – Girlie O remix

Dance hall artiste and arguably the fastest rising act, Patoranking remixed his 2013 hit Girlie O, this time featuring Tiwa Savage, who lent her addictive vocals to the Wizzy Pro-produced tune. The visuals for the single, released in May 2014, was directed by Mr. Moe Musa and now has 2,872,566 views.

 

9 L.A.X ft Wizkid – Ginger

StarBoy Entertainment signee, L.A.X followed up his impressive performance on Wizkid’s 2013 hit, Caro with legendury beatz-produced ‘ginger’ which also features his boss and pop star, Wizkid. The Mr. Moe Musa-shot colourful visuals now has 2,464,289 views.


10 Runtown ft Davido – Gallardo

One of 2014’s hottest act, Runtown released the Clarence Peters-shot visuals for his club hit, Gallardo which features Soul Train award nominee, Davido in March this year. At last count, it has been viewed 2,446,104 times.
