Debbie set to start treatment for skull and lung cancer
Idiagbonya Osarere Debbie is a stage 4 invasive ductal carcinoma (breast cancer) survivor. She became known in 2012, when her friends created the #savedebbie Campaign to help her raise funds to enable her go for treatment at the Howard University Teaching Hospital, Washington DC, USA, till date.
In 2012, when her friends started the campaign, they were able to raise the N6 million needed for surgery. Artistes like Ruggedman, Davido, Mo’cheddah, Don Jazzy and more helped with the campaign and also donated.
In 2013, ENCOMIUM Weekly had a chat with her, via email after her surgery (mastectomy) and she confirmed she was responding to treatment.
In April 2015, she was diagnosed with bone cancer which she has survived till now. Even though she was able to raise a little over $30,000 which she pleaded for, we are certain that she might still need more funds because insurance can’t keep paying for the rest of her treatment. The 31 year old lady, was a laboratory technician before she was diagnosed.
It was reported last week in ENCOMIUM Weekly that Idiagbonya Osaree Debbie solicited for funds on her gofundme page via her instagram account. She sought $30,000 and as at Monday, February 8, 2016. A total sum of $34,517 had been raised by 1,070 people.
She showed her appreciation on her gofundme page saying: “Thank you so much for the love you have shown me. I could not believe how fast everybody made up their mind to stand by me in my trying period. May God Almighty not let you experience this kind of affliction on yourself or any of your loved one.
“Due to these donations, I have been able to schedule a doctor’s appointment for Thursday in order to discuss and resume my treatments.”
One Ajibade Najeem opened a fake instagram page, posting many pictures of Debbie impersonating her.

Debbie also thanked people who donated on her instagram page vie her proper account number, at Osarere Idiagbonya – Access Bank – 0000216933.
“Words cannot express my feeling, nor my thanks for all your help and relentless support, it is really overwhelming for me. God will stand for you, fight for you, favour you, make you flourish for forever like a tree planted by the riverside.
“To Ajibade Najeem, who is impersonating me, you don’t want to know the pain I go through in five minutes. Do you think cancer is a joke? I can’t see with my left eye except I wear glasses because the cancer in my skull wall spread to my eyes. Is that what you pray for? Do you wish for pluerex effusion too that you will be in excruciating pain every day? Think before you continue impersonating me. God will forgive your stupidity.
To all the people who didn’t sleep because of me, God will reward you in thousand folds.”
