Deinde Fernandez to be buried in Belgium on Friday

Chief Anthonio Deinde Fernandez, the Nigerian international businessman cum diplomat, who died on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, in Brussels, Belgium, will buried on Friday, September 18, 2015. Contrary to earlier news that he would be buried in Nigeria, ENCOMIUM Weekly has it on good authority that he will be buried in Brussels, Belgium.

The burial service will commence at 12 pm at Eglise Notre Dame du Sablon in Brussels. His remains will be interred at Cimetiere D’Lxelles, Chaussee de Boendael, 478.

ENCOMIUM Weekly gathered that the decision to bury the billionaire in a foreign land was taken at a meeting held by his immediate family in Brussels, Belgium, during the week.

His last wife, Halima Fernandez was said to have told the gathering of immediate family members that the late ambassador plenipotentiary’s last wish was that he wanted to be buried in Brussels, Belgium.

The latest burial arrangement, ENCOMIUM Weekly learnt, may also have come because of many of the man’s children, most of whom are said to be based abroad. Of all his nine children, only Chief (Mrs.) Teju Phillips is residing in Nigeria. All the eight others are based abroad.

But if what we heard is anything to go by, some people are not particularly happy with his burial arrangement.

For instance, Erelu Abiola Dosumu, one of the former wives of the late Deinde Fernandez and mother of one of his children wrote in City People that the man never wanted to be buried abroad.

Erelu wrote: “Your last wish was for you to be brought back to Nigeria and to be buried in Lagos.”

ENCOMIUM Weekly also gathered that sometime in early October 2015, a reception will be held in his honour.

If the information we are getting is anything to go by, Chief (Mrs.) Teju Phillips, who just came back from abroad after the family meeting, will be leaving again on Tuesday, September 15 or Wednesday, September 16 for the burial on Friday, September 18, 2015, in Brussels, Belgium.
