DENIAL FROM UMANA UMANA’S CAMP TRAIL ‘SHOUTING MATCH’ WITH AKPABIO

Immediate past Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government, Obong Umana Okon Umana has distanced himself from a news story published by an Uyo-based newspaper, which alleged that he had a shouting match with the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio in far away United States of America. Reacting to the news story in a release signed by his Media Adviser, Mr. Iboro Otongaran, Obong Umana stated that contrary to the content of the story, he has not been to the USA in the past six months and wondered how he could have attended the said meeting where the purported shouting match took place.

The statement further stressed that the story was false and merely a fabricati-on meant to deceive the people of the state into believing there was a subsisting war between the two leaders, an insinuation, the statement said, was far from the truth.

It continued that the story is an outright falsehood, with no shred or iota of truth. Though Umana at this moment is outside the country, he is not anywhere near the USA, but in Europe.  And for a greater part of the last three weeks, the governor was also not in the country, not anywhere near the US, but somewhere in the Middle East, to be precise, Dubai, going through a medical check-up.

The release then wondered how two people who were not anywhere near the US, could physically be attending events that were holding in the US that now led to a quarrel where they were insulting each other and having a shouting match.

A few weeks ago, the same newspaper published yet another complete fabrication where it claimed that Obong Umana had a running battle; in fact quarrel with the former governor of the state, HE (Arc.) Obong Victor Bassey Attah. Yet, the two people are enjoying friendship borne out of reconciliation.
