Sunday, December 8, 2013 marked the beginning of holy matrimony between talented singer, Sidney Onoriode Esiri, otherwise known as Dr. Sid and lover of many years, Simi Osomo.
They began the first step with introduction, which was secretly held at the bride’s family house at Ikoyi, Lagos, between the bride and groom’s families. Friends and colleagues of the couple, including Don-Jazzy, Tiwa and Tunji “TeeBillz” Balogun came to identify with the couple.
“It’s exclusively for the family”, Pop Champagne’s crooner told ENCOMIUM Weekly on Saturday, December 7, 2013, the eve of the introduction. “We shall invite you during the wedding proper.”
The Mavin Record’s act declined further comments, especially on the wedding proper, but sources close to him said it’s going to hold sometime next year.
According to him, “I think you need not disturb yourself, because introduction is a family thing, not necessarily that it’s covered by the press. I’m sure he would invite you for the traditional and wedding holding sometime next year.”
ENCOMIUM Weekly’s findings revealed that not many friends of the couple were aware of the introduction, until the fashionista wife tweeted on Saturday, December 7, 2013, “Tomorrow…the beginning of forever. Lord take control of it…” Dr. Sid later confirmed that it’s true.
There was outpouring of prayers for the couple by their fans on social media, especially twitter when the news broke. Precious sandra said, “Congrats…Wish u guys best of luck in ur marriage.” Another fan, Amaka Okorie posted, “Big congrats to dem. God is gonna tak control of it.” Lilyyyyyyyy also congratulated him, adding that, “how I wish his father was here (alive) to witness this..but nonetheless..wishing them heavenly bliss.”
An anonymous person prayed for the couple, saying, “See this couple….dated for a year, proposal in August, introduction in December and wedding is next year.”
Not many people knew about Dr. Sid’s romance with Simi, until the middle of this year, when they both publicly professed love to each other. Since then, they’ve been seen together at public functions, before the son of the late actor, Justice Esiri proposed to the former Editor of Compete Fashion in far away Venice, Italy.
