Devastated ‘Coronation Street’ stars cancel filming following tragic death of co-star

‘Heartbroken and deeply saddened’ cast and crew of Britain’s longest-running soap ‘Coronation Street’ have today (Tuesday, January 20) cancelled filming following the death of one of the soap’s stars, Anne Kirkbride.

Her death, announced yesterday, has led to an outpouring of grief from thousands who have ‘grown up’ with her character ‘Deirdre Barlow’ and ‘can’t imagine’ the soap without her.

The 60-year-old actress was one of Britain’s best-loved and longest-serving television stars, starting on the soap 43 years ago. She has been described as a ‘true icon of corrie’.
