Dog saves woman’s life after sniffing out her breast cancer

A dog owner says she owes ‘everything to my little girl’ after her Labrador saved her life – by sniffing out breast cancer.

48-year-old Allison Powell said she started feeling unwell and noticed her four-year-old Labrador dog ‘Missy’ was acting “strangely” – nudging her chest with its nose and pawing at her left breast, which made her to go for a check. Doctors found a small lump in her breast and she was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer in December last year.

The Portsmouth-born mother of one eventually underwent a life-saving double mastectomy in May this year
