..Governor charges residents to shun PDP, a party that terrorizes with FERMA thugs as APC campaign train goes to Agege
..Rally attended by 10 Governorship Candidates of other parties who stepped down for APC Candidate, Ambode
Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola, SAN on Saturday led the statewide campaign team of the All Progressives Congress to Agege Local Government Area, thanking the people for their massive support during the Presidential and National Assembly elections and charging them to ensure that they give double the number of votes that he got during the 2011 Governorship polls to Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Saturday.
The Governor who spoke at the Ile Pako Playground in Agege, venue of the rally which was graced by the ten Governorship candidates who stepped down for Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Friday, stated that it has become the tradition of the voters in Lagos State to always double the margin of votes for the progressives.
He added that in 2007, he got about 800,000 votes to be elected and that in 2011, it was doubled to 1.5 million and the he expects that the people would re-enact the same feat by giving the APC flag bearer not less than 3 million votes to be elected on Saturday.
Governor Fashola said despite the fact that his term of office is running out, he would continue to stand by the people come rain or come sunshine to provide service till his last day in office.
He reminded the people of the havoc done by the heavy rains of 2011 as well as the over flowing of Arigbanla Canal in Orile Agege, saying for both unfortunate incidents, it was the APC that came to the aid of the people.
He reiterated that two weeks ago, there was a windstorm globally that was felt in Agege and that the responsive government of APC quickly came to the aid of the residents who lost roofs and other parts of the building while the umbrella party was nowhere to be found.
He said the number of votes scored by the APC during the Presidential and National Assembly elections should be doubled in Agege on Saturday so that the PDP could be finally silenced in Lagos as it had been silenced at the federal level.
Speaking on the over 52, 000 void votes recorded in Lagos State, the Governor enlightened the voters to be more careful with the way they thumbprint the ballot papers and ensure that the thumb printed portion does not overlap into another column which may invalidate the vote.
He also urged the voters to take their time in ensuring that the ink on the ballot papers dry up before they leave the secluded point where they would thumbprint and ensure that their votes count.
He said the same political party (PDP) that was responsible for withholding funds of Local Governments in Lagos State and terrorizing the residents with FERMA thugs, a notorious feat that was reenacted two weeks ago on the streets of Lagos is now the same party jostling to rule Lagos.
Governor Fashola said despite the withheld fund of Local Governments, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, as Accountant General, was one of those responsible for ensuring that the State Government raised funds to pay staff of the Primary Health Care Centres and primary school teachers.
He added that the administration has been responsible for maintaining federal roads in the state including the Agege Motor Road and even rehabilitating several expansion joints on the Eko Bridge, spending up to N51Billion without any reimbursement from the Federal Government.
The Lagos State helmsman stressed that Capitol Road and Alfa Nla Road in Agege have been awarded and work would soon commence, stressing that it is taxes paid by the people that is at work.
He said for the past 16 years, the PDP led Federal Government has tried to no avail to provide a solution to power outage in the country leading to its being voted out at the centre, adding that at the state level, the PDP and its candidate lacks the know how to manage a mega city like Lagos.
He stressed that for the past 24 years since the capital of Nigeria was moved to Abuja, all the support which Lagos used to get to maintain its infrastructure ceased, adding that the Saturday election provides an ample opportunity for Lagos State under an APC Government to get all that it had been denied by a PDP led FG for the past 16 years.
The APC flags were later presented to the House of Assembly candidates of the party, namely, Hon Mudashiru Obasa and Hon Oluyinka Ogundimu by the Chairman of the party, Chief Henry Ajomale.
Highlight of the rally was the endorsement of the candidature of Mr Akinwunmi Ambode by the ten Governorship candidates who stepped down for the APC candidate on Friday and were represented by Mr. Akinola Obadia, Independent Democrats, Mr. Adeshina Olayokun All Progressives Grand Alliance and Mr Isola Aregbesola of the Action Alliance who spoke on their behalf.
Some of the prominent personalities present at the rally was the First Lady, Dame Emmanuella Abimbola Fashola, APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Dr. (Mrs) Idiat Oluranti Adebule, Party Chieftains and other stakeholders.
