Driver, younger brother identify Dr. Allwell Orji’s corpse, autopsy is next

The driver and younger brother of Dr. Allwell Orji identified his corpse after Marine Police recovered it around CMS area of Lagos lagoon at around 4:30 pm on Wednesday, March 22, 2017.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni revealed that the next step would be an autopsy before the body of the 35 year old victim of suicide is handed over to the family for burial.

Dr. Allwell Orji had jumped into the lagoon on Sunday, March 19, around the Adeniji Adele area of Third Mainland Bridge at 4:45 pm.

He had instructed his driver of three months, Henry Ita, to park for him to urinate. He alighted, walked to the railings and jumped. He had reportedly received a call before ordering the driver to stop.

Worried motorists had alerted the emergency agency and the Police. And in minutes, a search party was launched. Local divers and fishermen joined Marine Police, and it took three days for the body to be retrieved about seven nautical kilometres away.
