Dunkin’ Donuts robbery: Convicted ringleader dares judge to give him death sentence

A 25-year-old gang ringleader has dared a judge to give him the death penalty during a hearing in court on Friday (September 12).

James Herard was convicted in May of murdering two people during a series of violent robberies at Dunkin’ Donuts stores. He maintains his innocence.

Herard told the Florida courtroom during he hearing: “Honestly and truly, I’m not asking you to spare me,” he told the judge at his sentencing hearing. “Go ahead and do what you gonna do. I pretty much dare you to give me the death sentence because I’m innocent”, before adding that he knew the ‘Supreme Court won’t allow me to die for something that I didn’t commit.’

Despite his combative attitude, his lawyers are ‘totally focused on trying to save his life’.
