Ebola: America’s CDC to monitor all passengers from disease-stricken countries for 21 days

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced that all travellers from West African countries currently experiencing the Ebola outbreak will now be monitored for 21 days.

This was announced by the director of the CDC (Dr. Thomas Frieden) during a press conference this morning (October 22). He said that the monitoring will be rolled out in six states: New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, and Georgia as they account for 70 percent of all the travellers entering the United States from the Ebola-afflicted countries in West Africa (from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea).

The travellers will be asked for email addresses, phone numbers and street addresses, as well as similar contacts for a friend or relative.
