Ebola: US nurse defies quarantine, goes bike riding

An American nurse who treated Ebola patients in Sierra Leone, but tested negative for the virus, defied orders that she be quarantined in her home and went for a bike ride yesterday (Thursday, October 30).

33-year-old Kaci Hickox’s attorneys said they had not yet been served with a court order to enforce the 21-day quarantine, adding that they will contest such an order if the need arises.

Mandatory quarantines ordered by some states in the  United States of America (USA) on doctors and nurses returning from Ebola-affected countries are creating a “chilling effect” on ‘Doctors Without Borders’ operations there, the humanitarian group said yesterday.
