Ebola virus: Hopes rise as US aid workers ‘improve’ after taken drug

Hopes of a cure for the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) have been raised after two United States (US) aid workers were treated with an experimental serum – ZMapp.
Dr. Kent Brantly (33) and Nancy Writebol (59) were given ZMapp, made from tobacco plants, and within one hour of receiving the drug, Dr. Brantly’s condition ‘nearly reversed’ in a turnaround described by doctors as ‘miraculous’.

He has since been transferred to an isolation unit in Atlanta, Georgia, after his breathing improved and a rash on his skin faded.
