Ekiti Deputy Governor, MODUPE ADELABU loses son-in-law, Dr. Oluwaseun Fasawe

THESE certainly are not the best of times for Professor (Mrs.) Modupe Adelabu, the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State.  The Professor of Education from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, who for sometime now has been busy campaigning for re-election with her boss, Governor Kayode Fayemi has just been hit by a natural blow.  She has just lost her son-in-law, Dr. Oluwaseun Fasawe.

Dr. Oluwaseun FasaweDr. Oluwaseun Fasawe, a medical consultant and the Managing Director of Silver River Healthcare Nigeria Limited, is the husband of Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, the first daughter of Professor Modupe Adelabu.  He died in the early hours of Thursday, May 29, 2014, in London (the United Kingdom). He was 42.

Dr. Fasawe, a.k.a Dr. Fash, left the shores of the country for London on Monday, May 19, 2014, for what was called corrective surgery. The surgery was scheduled for Monday, June 2, 2014, and he was said to be preparing when on that Thursday, May 29, 2014, he called one of his friends to inform him that he had difficulty in breathing.  The friend was said to have organized for an ambulance to take him to the hospital.  He did not make it to the hospital before he died.

His wife, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, who was preparing to join him in London before Monday, June 2, was said to have been devastated when the news got to her in Nigeria.

Dr. Oluwaseun Fasawe was not only a medical doctor, he was also a politician who contested for Oluji/Okeigbo Federal Constituency of Ondo State in 2011 on the ticket of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).  He was also a socialite who enjoyed the good things of life of Lagos high society with his friends.

Dr. Oluwaseun Fasawe’s death will also resonate in the home of Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, who is his cousin.  Dr. Fasawe’s father, late Oba (Dr.) Timothy Oluwole Fasawe, the Oluoke of Okeigbo was an uncle to Pastor Adeboye.

Between Dr. Oluwaseun Fasawe and Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, his wife, who are both in the service of Lagos State government, there are two sons – Oluwakayode and Ayomidimeji.

Dr. Oluwaseun Fasawe will be buried in London on Thursday, June 12, 2014.  A Christian wake-keep was held in his honour at Memorable Garden, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
