1702F06.Aliyu-BabangidaBABANGIDA ALIYU CRASHES OUT, LOSES BID TO GO TO SENATE

Niger State Governor, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu’s dream to go to Senate has been dashed.  He lost to Barrister David Omar of the APC.

Announcing the results, the Returning Officer for the district, Professor Ali Audu Jiigam said Aliyu got 48,459, while Umar polled 149,443 votes.

From the results, Governor Aliyu was roundly defeated in all the wards of the five local government areas of the district officially declared by INEC.

Surprisingly, Aliyu also lost in his Chanchanga LGA where he polled only 17,209 as against the eventual winners 49,519 votes.

Governor Babangida Aliyu’s defeat came as rude shock, considering the fact he is one of the pillars of the ruling PDP.

GOV. T. A. ORJI’S SENATORIAL AMBITION THREATENED

– LOSES POLLING UNIT TO APGA

The senatorial ambition of Abia State Governor, Chief T. A. Orji was almost dashed on Saturday, March 28, with his loss at his ward.

But results from Umuahia, Abia State indicate that the governor won the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia Central Senatorial district.  According to the result we sourced from a news portal, Elombah, Governor Orji of the PDP polled 65,653 votes while his APGA rival, Barrister Ahamdi Nweke got 46,070.  The APC candidate trailed with just 10,204 votes.

But the protest of the All Progressives Grand Alliance might later force INEC to reverse Orji’s controversial win.

downloadORJI UZOR KALU ALSO CRASHED OUT

Billionaire politician and former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu also reportedly lost his senatorial bid to Abia North.

Dr. Kalu’s supporters were even the one who claimed his victory was stolen by the PDP in the state.

Orji Uzor Kalu ran under the Peoples Progressive Alliance (PPA), the party that brought incumbent Governor T. A. Orji to power in 2007.

Dino-MelayeDINO MELAYE BEATS SENATOR ADEYEMI

The opposition APC candidate in Kogi West Senatorial district, Hon. Dino Melaye has been declared the winner of the election.  Melaye polled 41,120 votes while Senator Smart Adeyemi of the PDP got 38,148 votes.

Adeyemi was tipped to retain his seat in Kogi West, but a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dino Melaye has now crushed him to victory.

NGIGE, UMEH CRUSHED!

There was yet another election upset in Anambra State where Senator Chris Ngige of the APC and the chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh lost to a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Uche Ekwunife.

The Anambra Central senatorial election would be a rude shock to the ruling APGA and the key political figures who lost to the former governorship aspirant.

YUGUDA, SUSWAN ALSO LOST

Bauchi State Governor, Mallam Isa Yuguda equally lost his bid to become a senator of the Federal Republic.

He was defeated in Benue East by Mallam Wakili of the APC.

Curiously, APC scored 341,708 votes to beat the incumbent governor who polled 115,575 votes.

Similarly, the governor of Benue State, Mr. Gabriel Suswan crashed out of the race to the National Assembly.  He lost to incumbent Senator Barnaba Gemade of the APC.

Gemade was a former chairman of the PDP.  He actually defected to the opposition APC after he lost the PDP senatorial ticket to the sitting governor.
