It was even reported that the man had more than one wife before getting married to Ireti. Ireti, being a smart and calculating lady seemed to be the only woman to drag him to the registry, hence making her his only legal wife.

One could say Oby Edozien got into the category of celebrities with second hand husbands by chance, as it is possible she did not know that her husband Alex Okoroigwe, also known as Alex O, who was a singer in the 90’s was married in Singapore with a kid before he came back to Nigeria. Alex O and Oby got married secretly on Friday, December 16, 2011, at Ikoyi Registry, Lagos. The news was all over the internet, and that was when the wife from Singapore, spoke up and produced pictures of their union. She said after he gained ground in Singapore, he left her on the pretext of going to Nigeria to establish his business and make arrangements for a US visa. Some months after their wedding, Oby Edozien was asked in an interview to clear the air on Alex O’s marital status she simply said, “Alex has only one wife in this world and she’s Oby Gold”. Oby and Alex are still happily married with a son.
