Entrepreneurs decry bad business climate: ‘2014 has been quite challenging’

entrepreneur

Nigerian entrepreneurs have declared 2014 as a challenging year, business-wise. Reviewing the year, many agreed it has not really been profitable for them. They however, hoped the festive period would be more favourable in terms of target and profitability.

Sincerely, I haven’t. I have big dreams and aspirations for 2014, but as some say, Man proposes, God disposes. God has His plans and I wouldn’t say that I am not grateful for at least some major success.

Business in 2014 was normal. While we tried to attain greater heights, we, of course continued to paddle the boat. It isn’t too late to hit it big and move away from the normal routine.

I won’t say I have achieved my target for 2014. Everything started on a good note, but at a time, the situation became worrisome because of the economic situation of the country which has not been supportive of business development. But with all hope in God, we survived the tide.

Now, 2014, to me, is not really the best, business-wise. Things are a little stagnant at the moment. A lot of customers still owe me.

But as the year is running to an end, and festive period is also very much around, I hope that business will boom again. And we will recover from our previous losses.

Not really, but I am sure we would achieve our target for the year. Business has been good and bad, so to speak.

Our expectations are high like I said. We would sure have a happy ending.

Yes, we have surpassed our expectations. And now we have fresh target, we also hope to achieve it before the end of the year.

It will be an exaggeration if I say I achieved all my targets in 2014. I only thank God I have been able to cope all this while.

There have been a little decline in patronage towards the middle of the year. We only enjoy considerable increase in patronage during salah period. Also, as Christmas and New Year celebration are getting closer, more people will want to buy new dresses. So, we will surely make more money. But to me, 2014 could not be said to be fair business-wise.

However, I expect that there is rise in the level of patronage before the end of the year so that one can plan ahead for 2015.

No, not really. I haven’t really achieved all set targets for the year. I give thanks to God. We are able to achieve one or two things.

I believe God for another branch and more customers.

I will be honest with you, 2014 has been very tough and tight, money didn’t flow, and Nigerians didn’t turn up like they do. Let’s say 90 percent last year but this year 45 percent and this 45 percent gave me so much to say thank you to God Almighty. I will grade foreign clients 50 percent. With the analysis you can see that money is not flowing. It is a global thing anyway. I am hopeful that 2015 will be great and better.

2014 has been great for me. My client base has increased. As an event planner, I got jobs from big companies. We thank God for the successes achieved so far. Hoping for more events come 2015. It might not huge but we are happy as a brand because we are getting there.
