Esama of Benin, SIR GABRIEL IGBINEDION tours three continents for 80th birthday celebration

THE Esama of Benin Kingdom, Sir Gabriel Igbinedion will be throwing a lavish party to celebrate his 80th birthday. The man of means will be 80 on Thursday, September 11, 2014, and a month long celebration that will stretch around three continents has kicked off in his home around G.R.A in Benin City, Edo State. Informed source revealed that the city of Benin, in Edo is presently in frenzy as activities to mark Sir Igbinedion’s 80th birthday has already started. There are nine assorted invitation cards currently in circulation among the high and mighty notifying them of the on-coming party to usher the Benin titled chief into the Octogenarian Club.

Neatly engraved on one of the invites is the plan by the billionaire businessman to visit Ghana alongside his entourage on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. He is going to spend five days in Ghana where he would be honoured by HRH Asantehene Kumasi. The party will continue in Benin, Edo State days later. Sir Igbinedion is also expected in Ibadan, Oyo State during the one month long birthday celebration. He is to grace the launch of a book written in his honour. And from Ibadan, Oyo State, he will proceed to South Africa for another award. There is also a party for him in London before he will move to America for the final lap of the celebration.

Our source further revealed that Sir Igbinedion has ordered a new wonder ride to celebrate this milestone. That is what he does whenever he celebrates his birthday. The type of car Igbinedion will ship into the country has not been revealed but people close to him know he is in love with choice automobiles like Bentley and Rolls Royce. The new automobile will arrive Nigeria before September 11, 2014, his birthday. He has also ordered that his Rolls Royce Phantom and other rides be taken to Ghana for him to move around in the wonder ride. Our source puts it this way, “As usual, he (Igbinedion) will paint Ghana red during this week.”

Another thing he already plans to do is to give out brand new cars to people close to him in Benin City, Edo State. The cars he wants to distribute have been delivered to him and parked in his GRA, Benin, Edo home. Sir Gabriel Igbinedion’s Jamaican wife, Lady Cherry Igbinedion is spearheading the planning committee of the birthday party. She is said to be personally supervising the distribution of invitation cards.

The invites for the Nigeria and Ghana gigs were distributed last week. The ones for London and USA have been dispatched long before now.

“Chief Igbinedion is a philanthropist. He gives at will. That is why he will be giving out cars to people on his birthday,” our source added. Only recently, the man who doesn’t do things in half measure shelled out $240,000 to buy a new Bentley Convertible and presented it to his wife as 62nd birthday gift. The presentation was at Igbinedion’s London home in April 2014. Before then, he had taken delivery of a Rolls Royce Phantom valued at £250,000 in 2011 for his birthday. He boasts of other exotic cars in his garage.

His business empire includes an international property portfolio, a private television and radio stations. He is said to have a lot of shares in some new generation banks. He owns an oil refinery as well as diamond, gold, marble mines in some African countries. His Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State is the first privately owned university in Nigeria. He previously owned the now defunct private airline, Okada Air, which had over 40 aircrafts in its fleet.

Sir Gabriel Igbinedion is blessed with many children, among whom are former Edo State governor, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, Bright Igbinedion, Mrs. Mabel Amadi, Hon. Charles Igbinedion, Mrs. Patience Osunde, Mrs. Philomena Osawaru, Mr. Peter Igbinedion, Fred Igbinedion, Mike Igbinedion and Mrs. Ehis Christofis. Those were the children from his first marriage. His second marriage with Lady Cherry Igbinedion produced four children and they are Omosede, Ivie, Amenze and Orobosa.

 

…POSITIONS DAUGHTER FOR HOUSE OF REPS

Omosede Igbinedion, one of the daughters of Sir Gabriel Igbinedion has launched her bid to contest the 2015 House of Representatives race. The mother of one child (Alexander) is bidding to represent the Ovie Federal Constituency in Abuja on the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP). In the forefront to make sure she realize her ambition is Sir Igbinedion who is currently pulling all strings and making relevant calls to ensure his daughter joins the league of politicians in Abuja come 2015.

The seat she (Omosede) is eyeing is presently being occupied by Hon. Nosakhare Osahon of the All Progressivs Congress (APC).

According to information, Sir Igbinedion has started making frantic visitation to power brokers in the state to support his daughter’s ambition. Just last week, the Esama was in a meeting with top PDP stalwarts in the state before he flagged off his 80th birthday jamboree.

Omosede Igbinedion, who is in her mid 30s is a lawyer. She was married to a Bini prince, Alvan Akenzua. The marriage crashed in 2012, while both parties went their separate ways. Omosede is presently romantically linked with Niger Delta billionaire, Ayiri Emami.
