Encomium
The family of late Mrs. Eunice Elisha Olawale (nee Akun) has announced Saturday, July 23, 2016, as the burial date of the deceased, barely two weeks after the 42-year-old Abuja based evangelist, a member of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), was gruesomely murdered around 5:30 am on Saturday, July 9, 2016, close to her Kubwa residence in Abuja during her routine ‘morning cry’. The date fixed happens to be her birthday when she would have clocked 43 years.
Bola Fatuashi, an immediate sister to the deceased, said the burial activities will start with a Christian wake on Friday (July 22, 2016) at the New Life Assembly Parish, The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Kubwa by 5:00pm, lying-in-state will begin by 8:00am on Saturday (July 23, 2016), also in Kubwa and interment follows immediately at Gudu Cemetry, Abuja.
The mother of seven who is survived by her aged parents, six siblings, her husband and seven children was allegedly murdered by some Muslim youths who were ordered by an Imam in charge of a nearby Mosque on July 9, 2016.
Emmanuel Apata, another brother to the deceased who showed up at NTA, Ibadan two days after his sister’s murder to protest Eunice Elisha’s death also confirmed the family’s burial plans since the autopsy had been conducted.
According to the siblings of the deceased, Bola and Emmanuel, Pa Ayodele Akun, the 72 year-old ailing father of the deceased (who is in the hospital) is yet to hear about this unfortunate event. Bola said: “We have not told my father, but my mother (who is yet to recover from the shock) already knows. My mother is stronger than my aged father. We will all meet at the village, after everything, and then find a way to relay the news to him, in such manner as to prevent another tragedy.”
Mr. Emmanuel further disclosed that her church, RCCG paid N1.5 million for the autopsy.
Though no assertion has been made concerning who the killers were, eight suspects were arrested in connection to the murder and six were later freed.
