Experts express fears that deadly Ebola virus could reach UK as Africa suffers worst outbreak ever

Experts in the United Kingdom (UK) have expressed fear that the Ebola virus – one of the deadliest diseases known to man and kills on average six in ten victims – could reach the UK .

West Africa is currently suffering the worst outbreak of the virus, which has claimed the lives of over 670 people in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

Cambridge University’s Dr Peter Walsh, a lecturer in archaeology and anthropology and Ebola expert, says: “It’s possible someone infected will fly to Heathrow having infected other people sitting next to them or by using the toilet.”

There is currently no cure or vaccine for Ebola. Even the front-line doctors have started falling victim to the disease they are trying to treat.
