Fake mendicants engage Professor Johnbull in new episode

Professor Johnbull, the Globacom-sponsored television drama series this week  delves into the issue of contrived begging as a  social  malady.

The episode is the 12th in the series. Titled “Eye of the Blind”, the episode will be on air on NTA Network, NTA International on DSTV Channel 251 and NTA on StarTimes at 8.30p.m.on Tuesday, January 17, while a repeat broadcast will air on Friday on the same channels and time.

Executive Producer, Globacom, said in a press statement that the episode  “promises to be as entertaining and educative as the previous episodes, as it brings to our  consciousness, the negative effect of fake and corporate begging and how it has been hampering the chances of those who genuinely need help in our society.”

Globacom added that viewers will encounter the erudite Professor, Johnbull (Kanayo O. Kanayo) as he handled the attempt by Flash acted by Stephen Odimgbe to exploit him as well as numerous unsuspecting members of the society by opening a phony Go-Fund-Me-Account, under the pretext of suffering from a terminal illness.

The episode equally beams lights on the army of fake beggars on the streets including their fraudulently ingenious strategies. However, viewers will find tips on how to distinguish fake beggars from genuine ones.

“Eye of the Blind” raises posers like: what fate befalls scammers who pretend to be invalids? What is the place of dignity if otherwise hale people resort to such despicable act? Is begging now  a profession in the nation?

The serial drama directed by Tchidi Chikere with Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) and Chief Chika Okpala (Zebrudayah) as production consultants  features regulars of the sitcom including Olaniyi (Yomi Fash-Lanso), Mai Doya (Funky Mallam), Elizabeth acted by Queen Nwokoye, while Nuella Tchidi Chikere acted as Egbemma (Olaniyi’s niece).
