The family of former military president, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (rtd), otherwise known as IBB, has confirmed that the influential politician is not enjoying the best of health at the moment. Not only that, he is presently in a private hospital in Frankfurt, Germany for medical attention.
Responding to ENCOMIUM Weekly’s question on whether the former military dictator is actually in Germany for health reason as reported by some national dailies, her daughter, Aisha said, “Yes, but that’s private.”
Our efforts to get further reaction from her proved abortive as all the calls put through her mobile phone were ignored.
Meanwhile, IBB, who is said to be battling radiculopathy for quite a long time was reported, a couple of days, to have left the shores of Nigeria for Germany where he is currently receiving treatment.
However, a very reliable source disclosed to ENCOMIUM Weekly that the Maradona, as IBB is also known, is responding to treatment and will be back in Nigeria after a few weeks.
“It’s not news that IBB has travelled to Germany for medical attention. The thing is that it wasn’t really ascertained whether it is only a medical check or corrective surgery. But I learnt he went for corrective surgery. He was operated upon one of his legs in 2012, in the same hospital in Germany. Since then, I learnt he has been advised to be reporting at least twice in a year.
“Maybe, that’s just one of his trips to the place. But I don’t think his health is worse as being bandied. Very soon, he will return home.”
