In a letter of condolence to the family of the late respected Emir, the Governor said his death will leave a vacuum in the country, as the late king did his best to uphold the unity of Nigeria.

He added that for the over 51 years he spent as the traditional ruler of Kano, he made his mark as a worthy trailblazer who was concerned about the welfare and progress of not just  his people but the entire nation.

The Governor noted that Bayero apart from being a revered traditional ruler, also contributed his quota to the development of Nigeria in his role as Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, and subsequently, of the University of Ibadan.

“Nigerians will not forget his impact as one of the greatest leaders produced by our country and he will forever live on in our hearts,” he said.

He said that the late Emir’s name was synonymous with royalty, dedication and good leadership, the virtues that distinguished him among his equals and urged the family to take comfort in the legacy left behind which, he said, will stand the test of time.

The Governor prayed Almighty Allah to grant him Al Jannah Firdaus.
