Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Tuesday condoled with the Management and staff of Newswatch Newspapers Limited over the killing, at the weekend, of the Newspaper’s Deputy Editor Saturday, Mr. Toyin Obadina by some yet to be identified gunmen.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Hakeem Bello, Fashola expressed shock and grief at the untimely death of the Deputy Editor noting that the deceased was an articulate and brilliant journalist who has contributed substantially to the development of journalism in the country.

The Governor was particularly pained by the fact that the deceased was cut down in his prime when his budding professionalism was about to blossom for the benefit of the Journalism profession in particular and the country in general.Noting that the Newswatch organization has lost one of its top flight editorial team members, Fashola urged the management and staff to take consolation in the fact that the deceased has left a legacy of diligence in the workplace adding that the best way to immortalize his memory was to uphold that legacy. Obadina was reportedly attacked by suspected armed robbers on Saturday night along Itoikin-Old Ijebu-Ode Road while driving to his residence at Parafa area of Ikorodu. Efforts to save his life by a team of doctors at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, where he was rushed to after the incident, proved futile as he gave up in the early hours of Sunday morning.
