‘Fatherhood is exciting‘ –Ushbebe

Justice Nwagbe also known as Ushbebe, is excited over the arrival of his baby boy. The baby came on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, few days after his show Chronicles of Ushbebe at MUSON Centre, Lagos.

ENCOMIUM Weekly had a chat with Ushbebe about the success of his show and joys of fatherhood…

How will you rate the success of your last show, Chronicles of Ushbebe Live Concert?

I will rate it 97 percent. It was better from what happened last year at every level. The turnout was better than the last edition. We had more professionals, different calbres of people were in attendance. In terms of delivery, it was a better one too. We spoke about happenings in the society. Generally, it was better than what we had last year.

Were there lapses you noticed during the show?

There will be lapses in every event, but we tried a lot to perfect all the dead lines that we had. The only thing I think could be one of the lapses is the fact that some of the artistes came late than we expected. Aside that, the show went as we expected it to be.

Will you say the tickets were sold out?

Apparently! We had to stop selling tickets so that the hall could accommodate us. We couldn’t get the venue that we wanted. We had to get somewhere central so that more people could come on board. That was why we chose MUSON Centre.

How much did the whole event gulp?

I will say well over N4 million.

Were you able to recoup the money invested in the show?

That one is a personal problem. I wouldn’t love to answer that. I don’t know if you are from the tax office. We spent money putting up a good show, we are not really keen on whether we made back all we spent.

What were some of the challenges you faced while planning?

We had the challenges of sponsorship but we were even lucky we had people who came to support us.

What is next for Ushbebe?

You should expect Ushbebe to go to other cities to entertain people. It is all about entertainment for us. We are getting to other cities by God’s grace, put up good shows. Fans should expect more entertainment from Ushbebe in different styles. We started last year to reach cities we have not been before, Uyo, Port Harcourt, Abuja. People have been calling us from other states too, America and UK. We have quite a handful of followers in all these places. ‘

Thank you.

How does it feel to be a father?

It is fantastic, you know how it feels to buy a new car. When you get inside it, you feel very excited. I am not saying a baby is a car though, it is the same feeling you have when you have a new car, multiply that by a million. Especially when you don’t have any before.

It feels very interesting. I am very excited and I bless God for making it possible.

You weren’t there when the baby came, you were preparing for your show. How did you feel not being by her side?

I was here in Nigeria, that is true. I felt okay. I was just excited I know my wife is strong to handle and take care of the baby till I come. He is also a strong boy. He will take care of his mother till I come.

How soon are you going to see them?

Very soon. Sooner than you expect.

Maybe tomorrow morning?

If you pay the flight money, I am off.

Why did you wait for two years to have a baby?

God gives. It is when He gives that it comes. I feel fine, excited that I have one now. We had our child when we wanted it.

What will change about you now that you are a father?

Nothing will change about me. This is how I have been before marriage and this is how I will continue to be. I don’t want my child to start suspecting that I am not his father. I will remain who I am for my family. I have been available and will continue to be.  I want to be a good father.  I want to be a good husband too.

What is the best thing about being a dad?

We just start am, let us enjoy it. I will try to be the best dad I can be. Give all I have to make my family comfortable.
