Fayose shocker: ‘Aluko prostrated for forgiveness’

Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose has debunked the tale that he bribed the former Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Dr. Temitope Aluko for a peace meeting reportedly held on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, between the two warring parties. He added that Aluko is a pathological liar, who is only seeking undue public attention.

In a chat with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, via his Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media, Mr. Lere Olayinka, the governor stated, “No sane mind will keep glorifying a perjurer and unstable character who speaks from both sides of his mouth with undeserving reply.

“As far as we’re concerned, the APC in Ekiti state that’s always willing to accommodate even Judas Iscariot or the notorious armed robber, Lawrence Anini (if he were to be alive) can keep Temitope Aluko in their fold, that’s their business. We didn’t want a Judas in PDP and anywhere near the government and that has been made clear.”

On the truth concerning the bribe allegation, levelled against Fayose to enable him agree to the purported peace initiative, Mr. Olayinka said, “There is no iota of truth in it. What happened was that Aluko wanted money from Fayose, and he got none. It’s the case of a scammer scammed. He thought he was wise, but we showed him he’s a fool.”

Olayinka, however, declined comment on the alarm of threat of life by Aluko, describing the embattled politician as good riddance to bad rubbish. He said, “There’s no reaction on that. The state government will no longer dignify him with any response again.”

Meanwhile, after the said reconciliation meeting between Governor Fayose and Aluko on Sunday, April 3, 2016, the social media was agog with reactions and messages. Some believed it was just a truce which some said peace has been permanently brokered between the two political gladiators on account of the reported outcome of the said meeting.

However, hours later, news started filtering that there was nothing to celebrate about the meeting as Aluko was said to have reneged on his pledge, explaining that the whole arrangement that suddenly brought him together with Fayose was staged managed by the latter. In addition to that, he was reported to have raised the alarm over an alleged threat to his life by Fayose and his loyalists.

Meanwhile, former Speaker, Ekiti House of Assembly, Hon. Dele Olugbami has reportedly countered Aluko, describing him as a liar and betrayer of the highest order. He stressed that the controversial former university don was the one who engineered the meeting. He even said they both prostrated for Fayose, later Aluko and Fayose finally embraced peace.

This was contained in a message forwarded to ENCOMIUM Weekly on Thursday, April 7, 2016, by Mr. Olayinka to further authenticate the governor’s claim.

According to Olugbemi, “Aluko promised the governor to dismantle all the structures he had put in place to attack the governor. And the governor said he had forgiven him totally and that he should go and sin no more.

“Even, when the governor told him to sit down, he prostrated and I also prostrated along for the governor for total forgiveness.

“Aluko stood up again, saying my mentor, my leader, my egbon. I am your boy. You know I am your boy. Whatever step I have taken before now, forgive me. Aluko and myself prostrated again.”

However, hours later, Aluko reportedly made a U-turn and that has since been generating reactions both within and outside Ekiti state.
