Felabration Afrobics Dance contest

The FELABRATION AFROBICS DANCE COMPETITION is here again. This is a contest designed to encourage and popularise the famous Afrobeat Dance styles, globally. It is a part of the annual FELABRATION Festival, where the winners are given the opportunity to perform their winning dance styles on the massive global FELABRATION Stage. Entries for the 2018 edition is now opened to the public. 

Contestants are required to visit www.felabration.net to sign up. Deadline for signing up is August 20, 2018. All entries will thenceforth be collated and a date fixed for the initial auditioning that will throw up the best dancers to move on to the next stage of the competition. Auditions will be held at the New Afrika Shrine and the Freedom Park.

The final contest however will be held at the New Afrika Shrine on a date that will also be announced later but definitely before the commencement of the main FELABRATION events which will hold between October 15-21, 2018.

Judges for the various stages of the competition are Segun Adefila, Founder of The Crown Troupe, a world famous dance drama troupe, and Adedayo Liadi, a.k.a Ijodee, a renowned dancer and dance instructor.

The FELABRATION AFROBICS DANCE COMPETITION, was introduced to the mainstream FELABRATION in 2017. It is designed to internationalise the Afrobeat Dance styles created and made popular by FELA ANIKULAPO-KUTI, the creator of the Afrobeat Music Genre. It is FELA’s way of eternally passing the African Dance styles to the world.

STAR KIDS, a group of prolific young dancers based in Lagos, are the winners of the 2017 maiden edition. This year promises to be more keenly contested.
