The Afrobics Dance Competition, was introduced into FELABRATIION, three years ago to lay emphasis on the fact that Afrobics Dance, which is obviously the forerunner to today’s tweaking was created by FELA. More so, Yeni Kuti, Founder of FELABRATION, is one of the best Afrobics Dancers of all Times. She also runs a school for Afrobics Dancers.

The maiden winner was a group of children, The Star Kidz. They were very enchanting and captivating. That was 2017.

Last year, 2018, Miss OnomeOtogi won the competition.

The Competition itself requires that the contestants register online by visiting www.felabration.net . Thereafter an audition is done, leading to the finals.

Afrobics was introduced into Afrobeat Music by Its Creator, FELA, from the onset. The pioneer dancer who translated FELA’S beat into pulsating dance steps, was Dele Salami. Dele’s waist wriggling dance steps became an inseparable part of the new music. By the time Dele left the band, the Afrobics Dance has assumed a life of its own and spreading across the dance halls. Thereafter FELA introduced the troupe style dance of Afrobics. At some point it became a dance carnival on stage

FEMI KUTI and SEUN KUTI, FELA’S forebears imbibed the dance Carnival styles and these have become the vogue. The FELABRATION Afrobics Dance Competition is another level of the evolution.
