FEMI HAMZAT takes guber campaign to Facebook

Dr Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, the Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure in Lagos State has turned to a motivational or inspiration speaker on facebook. The system engineer, who is rumoured to be eyeing Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN)’s seat in 2015, has now become a regular commentator on Facebook since Monday, January 13, 2014, when ENCOMIUM Weekly first noticed it.

His post that Monday, January 2014, was “One small positive thought in the morning can change your day completely”, KOH Lagos Eko Oni Baje, Eko ate siwaju, APC CHANGE.

KOH are his initials, Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat. His other posting includes, “Don’t let your real situation discourage you. Everyone who gets where they are, started from where they were”  J. C. Maxwell. KOH Lagos Eko Oni Baje, Eko ate siwaju, APC CHANGE.

These postings have no doubt generated a lot of comments from his friends and supporters.

On Friday, January 31, 2014, he wrote thus “Hello, my great fans, get ready to download and read my resume (CV) for free this evening. I have been busy over night gathering information details from my private bank”, KOH Lagos Eko Oni Baje, Eko ate siwaju, APC CHANGE.

True to his words, he gave a long list of his profile right from his primary school, through secondary school, university home and abroad to his career, both in private and public sector.

He also posted on his facebook page the meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) members at the party’s secretariat, ACME Road, Ogba, Lagos, on Thursday, January 30, 2014. What all these point to is the fact that the hitherto quiet technocrat in the Lagos State public service since 2005, when he came in as the Commissioner for Science and Technology, is actually eyeing something higher than his present political post even though he has not come out to say so openly.

Since 2013, he has been listed among those who are jostling to replace Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola in 2015, he has now become more regular at social and political events within the state in the last one year.

For someone who was once considered apolitical, it is now surprising to many to see women cheer leaders gracing commissioning of roads done by his ministry. He is not the only governorship aspirant on facebook. There is Senator Gbenga Ashafa and Adeyemi Ikuforiji Grassroots Movement, but his has been the most vibrant in recent times.
