FG approves National Lottery License for Wesco Pools and Lottery Ltd

In furtherance of his determination to boost employment opportunities in the country and recognizing the role of lottery in national development, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has approved national lottery license to Wesco Pools and Lottery Limited.

The license was granted to Barr. (Otunba) Adewale Moses Osinubi few days ago after the fulfillment of all the regulations and procedures guiding lottery operations in Nigeria.

Chairman, governing board of National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC), Damian Dodo, who presented the certificate to the Chief Executive Officer of Wesco Pools & Lottery Ltd at a brief ceremony at the National Lottery Commission headquarters in Abuja, however, advised all licensed operators to comply with the laid down rules and regulations to promote transparency, probity and accountability.

He appealed to the lottery trust to expedite action on the implementation of lottery good causes of grassroots equipping of over 1000 primary schools nationwide with modern sports kits as approved by President Goodluck Jonathan, to enable citizens to reap the benefits of lottery.

The Federal government also warned all illegal operators to, in their own interest, stop illegal lottery activities as defaulters risk prosecution and punishment if they fail to comply with section 34 of the lottery Act 2005.

It directed all lottery operators in the country to ensure prompt submission of their statutory remittances to the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), to enable it grow the fund for implementation of designed projects.

He described the granting of the license as a further indication of President Goodluck Jonathan’s commitment to ensuring that lottery was elevated to a level where it would be beneficial and rewarding to the citizens.

The chairman described the Chief Executive Officer of Wesco Pools & Lottery Ltd as someone with high integrity and pedigree whose unflinching effort at contributing his quota to national development knows no bound.

According to him, lottery business generates billions of naira to the coffers of the government annually, stressing that any operator who has done his bit as a transparent operator should be appreciated.

In his remarks, Osinubi expressed appreciation to the Federal Government as well as others who were involved in the granting of the license.

Osinubi added that the license will further spur him to do more for the development of the country.

The Wesco Lotto boss said the task of building Nigeria should not be left in the hands of the government alone, hence his zeal and determination to bring more unemployed Nigerians to his company’s fold.
