FG to generate 4,000MW through coal fired power plants

The Federal Government yesterday (Monday, October 6, 2014) assured Nigerians of considerable improvement in electricity supply nationwide, with the complement of power generated with Coal fired power plants.

This was revealed by the Acting Managing Director, Nigeria Coal Corporation, Mr. Ibe Evaristus, who stressed the Government’s resolve to use Coal to generate electricity as an alternative to Gas and Hydro power generation.

The Coal to power programme is driven by the Mines/Steel Development Ministry in collaboration with the Ministry of Power and is expected to generate up to 4,000 MW.
