Filmmaker Chris Ihidero premieres True Nollywood stories

Nigerian writer and filmmaker Chris Ihidero has debuted an international Nollywood project to celebrate and document the Nigerian movie industry.

Built as an information centre for everything Nollywood, the initiative kicks off today, with the launch of True Nollywood Stories – a 24 hour digital magazine available on web, mobile, radio and TV.

Himself a critically-acclaimed story teller, with over – hours of film to his name, Ihidero says TNS will tell the story of the world’s third largest film industry and it’s people the way it has never been told.

He says “It’s been almost a decade now since I began my engagement with Nollywood. Our affair started on a wrong footing. I dismissed Nollywood without knowing it enough to understand and appreciate it. I know better now. In spite of its many inadequacies it is a truly phenomenal artistic expression that deserves worthy praise and empowering criticism.”

TNS is an entertaining and informative platform that reflects the innovative and dynamic spirit of Nollywood”, he says, adding that  “In no time, TNS will become the leading global entertaining and informative one-stop resource platform for news, views, reviews, previews and general information about Nollywood.”

The website debuts with a community of respected columnists including Onoshe Nwabuikwu, Ufuoma MCDermott , Ali Abubakar Sadiq, Nkiru Njoku, Oris Aigbokhaevbolo, Segun Odejimi, Fidelis Duker, Funmi Aluko, Ihidero himself and many more.

Chris Ihidero has worked as a Literature lecturer at Lagos State University, an actor with BBC radio, a columnist for Guardian Newspapers and Chief Operating Officer of the acclaimed Amaka Igwe Studios. His short film Big Daddy won the Special Jury Award and Best Editing Award” at the 2012 In-Short International film festival.
