FINALLY, SANDY ONOR DUMPS GOV. LIYEL IMOKE, SET FOR JCO

Dr. Sandy Onor, the erstwhile Commissioner for Environment in Cross River State, who has remained under suspension by Governor Liyel Imoke for supporting the governorship ambition of Goddy Jedy Agba, OFR is set to become the Director General of the Jedy Campaign Organization.

Though Jedy Agba who is still the Group General Manager (GGM), Crude Oil Marketing Department (COMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC), has not openly indicated interest in the coveted governorship seat, very reliable sources close to the Obudu Prince say that baring anything, he should officially vacate his position within the next three weeks and openly declare his intention to become governor so that the speculations will be laid to rest.

Agba, a bonafide Cross Riverian, is a holder of the prestigious national award, Officer of the Federal Republic, OFR, a thorough bred and tested technocrat and heir apparent to the throne of his father, the Paramount Ruler of Obudu LGA, Uti J.D. Agba 1.

And it is for his group, the Jedy Campaign Organization (JCO) that Dr. Sandy Onor, will soon resume duties fully as the Director-General (DG).

Those who know Onor like the back of their hands say he is a very versatile politician, a well-trained technocrat with the right mix of experience in politics and a man with very impressive track record of delivery.

We reliably gathered that the group has already acquired an office property at the highbrow Marian Road in Calabar which is presently going through finishing touches, and is expected to be opened before the middle of the month.

Remember that few weeks back, Governor Imoke recalled his commissioners and special advisers that were suspended following their failure to attend activities marking the last World AIDS Day but Dr. Onor and another SA were not recalled because of their alleged support for Jedy’s governorship ambition amidst speculations that the governors’ favoured successor is Fidelis Ugbo.

Dr. Onor was formerly a lecturer in the University of Calabar before he joined the political fray, where he was billed to run against Governor Imoke under the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN after the annulment of Imoke’s election by the Court of Appeal. He later stepped down to become the DG of the Imoke Campaign Organization. Imoke won the re-run and he (Onor) was appointed Commissioner.

Watchers of the scene in the oil-rich state say the king-makers are scared stiff because it is on record that whoever Onor supports always carries the day.
