First call: 50 Naira story initiative premiered

With a mandate to produce 18 movies a year, seasoned and experienced team of advertising communications and content professionals, Audio Visual First (AVF) has launched the 50 Naira Story Initiative.

According to AVF, this will create a structure where movies are produced with a model quite reminiscent of a factory production line.

“We have assembled personnel working on the project. Our mandate is to produce 18 movies each year, with an aim of discovering new talents and creating more job opportunities for industry practitioners, as well as positioning the country’s vast people and resources in a positive light to the rest of the world,” AVF said.

And to actualize this,AVF recently staged a premiere of the 50 Naira Story Initiative Movies at the Film House Cinema, Apapa Mall, Lagos with the first four movies namely: Beneath Her Veil, Night for Sex, Where Does Beauty Go? and One Minute Man.

The event was attended by some of the cast and crew of the movies.

As good as they come, the movies are quite interesting. In Beneath Her Veil written by Tomilola Coco Adeyemo, directed by Adeyinka Oduniyi, Dede Okosun tries to get her husband to agree to a divorce at the same time her former flame and best friend’s ex husband, Toni Akinbami is trying to ensure a friendly relationship with her best friend, post divorce. Nothing goes well on both ends and the night ends in pure disaster. The morning after is worse as Dede watches her husband get shot brutally right in front of her.

Free from her troubled past and determined to seek love and forgiveness from the people she has hurt in the past, she begins to look for a way to get back in her best friend’s good books. This plan is easily foiled when her former flame and best friend’s ex husband comes back for her, refusing to let her go, thereby making her quest harder. Her best friend’s mother and former guardian also decides it is time to make Dede pay for her sins from years before. She goes after her life and everything else she believes she is owed by Dede. Overwhelmed by the drama and troubles around her, Dede almost gave up but the light at the end of her tunnel is lit when her best friend offers her the most needed help. Now, would she take the help and the man?

Beneath Her Veil which was produced by Oyeronke Orijajogun features Olumide Bakare, Kalu Ikeagwu, Wole Ojo, Peggy Eloho Ovire, Tina Mba, Moyo Lawal, Yeni Kuti, et al.

Also premiered the same day (Sunday, May 10, 2015) was Where does Beauty Go.

Barbie’s decision to remain relevant in social circuit amidst her dwindling popularity as a highly sought- after actress is first to bleach her skin whiter, lift a sagging breast and marry a dashing 29 year old fashion photographer.
