First call: Miss Charismatic, Nigeria holds August 9

All is now set for the 2014 Miss Charismatic, Nigeria. To be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos. The eventual winner will smile home with a cash prize of N500,000 and a brand-new car.

Organised by the maiden winner of MBGN 2013 Miss Charismatic Award, Ronke Tiamiyu, the out-going queen is Yewande Baruwa. Miss Charismatic, Nigeria was created by Ronke, who is the CEO of Laronet Ventures.

The beauty pageant was borne out of desire to promote young talents and to showcase inherent beauty in Nigerian women. It also aims at empowering the girl child in the male-dominated world. Miss Charismatic, Nigeria is now in its second edition.

JUSTICE ATIGOGO JOINS TINSEL

Justice Atigogo, actor, art critic, broadcaster, presenter, executive, producer of the award-winning radio programme, 12 to 12 has joined the MNet sponsored TV series, Tinsel.

JULIUS AGWU’S WIFE, CHILDREN JET OUT FOR SUMMER

High-flying entertainer, Julius Agwu now lives alone. His wife and two children have travelled for summer. We gathered that madam left our shores a fortnight ago to Houston, Texas, USA. He would however, join them from the UK where he would, be staging his annual comedy show, Crack Ya Ribs.

According to information at our disposal, the UK comedy show kick-off with Glasgow City on August 22, Londoners will receive the top comedian on August 24, while Manchester and Aberdeen would take their turns, August 25 and 30.

BOLAJI FOLAWIYO JETS TO SAUDI ARABIA

Bolaji Folawiyo, last child of late Alhaji Wahab Folawiyo, has travelled to Saudi Arabi for Umrah (lesser Hajj). The businessman would also head to the UK from there to oversee his business before returning to Nigeria.

KOLADE ONANUGA SHINES AT D’PLACE

Fast-rising singer, Kolade Onanuga was the toast of fun seekers at D’Place by Papas, Lekki, Lagos, on Monday, August 28.

Tagged Ramadan Jam, loads of celebrities were there for the show. They included Shina Peller of Quilox, Xcape’s Richard Nnadi, Banky W, Dakova and Kola Alagbada, a one-time special assistant to former governor Bukola Saraki of Kwara State.

KAMAL BOUSTANI BACK FROM US

Kamal Boustani, owner of Double 44 Restaurant, who had been in Lebanon and the United States of America, returned on Wednesday, July 30. Spotted him at Double 44 that same day at about 4pm.

Kamal, we learnt, was in the States to see his family. The Lebanese businessman is the owner of Planet 44 and K’s Place all on the Island.

The Ikeja City Shipping Mall, Lagos, will on Saturday, August 9, 2014, come alive with musical performance and electrifying runway exhibition, as the second edition of the Ikeja City Mall Fashion and Music takes centre stage.

It’s an event that will be characterized with glitz and glamour. Designed to showcase the summer collections of fashion stores in the mall and bring together the best of youthful celebrities, models and artistes to entertain the shopping mall.

This show inside the mall would have the city mall tenant stores as sponsors. The Ikeja City Mall Fashion and Music Show promises to give you the best of fashion display, light and music performances from your favourite models, music artistes and comedians.

Activities for the day include electrifying catwalk by top models, music performances by top celebrities, comedy, dance, raffle draw, special sales/auctions and celebrity guest appearances. Participating stores at the mall include, Mango, Maybrands, USPolo, Kids Country, BlackUp, Casabella, DaViva, amongst others.

RASHEED MURI OKUNOLA OFF TO US

Rasheed Muri Okunola, Personal Assistant to Lagos State governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), is out of the country.

RMO, as he is fondly called, would first go for lesser Hajj with his brother, Hakeem Muri Okunola. They would also be visiting their father’s tomb in Mecca. Pa Okunola died a decade ago.

MUDI SIGHTED!

Top fashion designer, Mudiaga Enajemo (Mudi), was in front of Chocolate Royale Restaurant on Etim Inyang Crescent, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Thursday, July 28. He was there to move his car which developed battery problem earlier in the day.

When he fixed the red Mercedes Benz, he dashed six security men who watched over the ride N6,000.

The 8th edition of the Nigeria Media Nite Out Award would be taking place on Sunday, August 31, 2014. Venue is Time Square Event, Ajao Road, Off Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, Lagos.
