First call: Sharp Band thrills at crescendo

Talk-of-the-town music group, Sharp Band was the centre of attraction on Sunday, June 8, 2014, when they entertained guests at the popular funspot, Crescendo in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.

It was the night club’s regular Sunday Jump Jam and Music Jamz that usually attracts the who-is-who to the hangout. The Sunday revelry was not any different as celebs wined and dined at the club owned by businessman, Olawunmi Ogundele aka Lawi.

The wave-making band kept most of the celebrities on the dance floor swaying to the music of yesterday and today till around 3am.

Celebrities at the groove included Senator, Gbenga Ashafa, Demola Fashola, Tope Tinubu, son of APC chieftain, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Captains Chris and Anu of Arik Airline, Lanre Ere, Victor Olaitan, Dotun Amotoye,  Atobatele, Funsho (Lamata) among others.

 ID OGUNGBE LEADS BY EXAMPLE

We never knew that ‘Professor’ ID Ogungbe is such a disciplined man. At about 11am on Monday, June 9, 2014, the dude queued up at D’Place Restaurant waiting to be served breakfast.

Though it took quite a long time to get to his turn, ID the Professor in Primetime Africa waited patiently for his turn. And after he got his order, he left the eatery in his white Range Rover.

KARO EKEWENU STAGES BIRTHDAY BASH

Pillars of high society, Ambassador and Mrs. Karo Ekewenu celebrated their birthday on June 7, 2014. Held at the Tresi Event Centre, Lekki, Lagos, another birthday party was also staged at D’Place by Papas to complete the celebrations.

EDI OKRI PLOTS MULTI-MILLION WORLD MUSIC/FOOD DAY

After 10 years of hosting world music and food day successfully, America based musician, Edi Okri is set to experiment same in Nigeria in December.

Okri who has gathered good experience over the years as the sole manager of the event maintained that the platform is a potential foreign earner for Nigeria.

He said that the event where over 200 wave-making international musicians have been penciled down to perform will obviously expose the Nigeria business community to the opportunities of doing business with the foreigners who will come for the big time event.

Okri said that he has been doing all humanly possible to make sure the government buys the import of the proposal which will put Nigeria and Nigerians in the correct perspectives in global reckoning.

NATIONAL ART COMPETITION  CALLS FOR ENTRIES

National Art Competition is calling for entries into the 7th competition, entitled Interventions. The organisation aims to promote conceptual development of contemporary art in Nigeria with the mission of raising awareness on relevant social issue through the use of creative artistic expression.

The National Art Competition showcases emerging talents in such diverse mediums as painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, installation and video art.

After collection of entries, 12 finalists would be invited to take part in a week-long artist retreat in Lagos. Finalists will be rewarded for their work production. The competition includes a final exhibition, cash prizes totalling N4 million, to first place winner N2 million, outstanding concept N1 million, outstanding production N1 million, and provide artists national exposure.

WANDE COAL AND CREW STORM D’PLACE BY PAPAS

On Wednesday night (June 11, 2014), Wande Coal and his crew stormed the talk-of-the-town hangout, D’Place by Papas Entertainment, Lekki, Lagos.

They came in at about 3am when the club was at its peak. Wande Coal left D’Place by Papas at 4:20am. His crew later followed suit.
