FORMER Abia State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr. Eze Chikamnayo is running a Strip Lounge in Umuahia, the Abia State capital. And the high and mighty congregate there to catch endless fun.
On the popular Azikiwe Road, Umuahia, the lounge is on Topten Entertainment Arcade, a cluster of flats allegedly owned by the immediate past Abia Commissioner for Information and Strategy.
There is also a restaurant, bar, supermarket, recording and modeling photo studio, among others in the multi-naira mega mall.
A staff of Topten Elite Club whom ENCOMIUM Weekly spoke with when we called at the lounge on Saturday, October 3, 2015, said it’s perhaps the biggest private hangout in Umuahia, if not in the entire state.
She explained that it’s not for every Dick and Tom, as admittance to the citadel of entertainment is highly restricted.
We were also told that one needs to have a deep pocket to patronise the strip section of the elite club.
Members are classed in categories for a daily/monthly fees to have access to the club. The fees are as high as N7,000 per day and N50,000 per month for the VVIP.
We also learnt there are other access fees ranging from N1,000 (per day) to N10,000 (per month) for the Popular Membership category as well as N5,000 per day/N30,000 per month for VIP class of clients.
ENCOMIUM Weekly gathered that Topten Elite Club is doing good business in Abia State capital mainly peopled with civil servants and politicians.
And admitting this in an informal chat with friends when our source patronised the gentleman’s lounge, Chikamnayo said he has no regret venturing into the business. He pointed out that Topten is for ‘big boys’ who know what they want. He assured the club would soon extend its tentacles to other parts of the state.
On security of customers, the politician-turned business man said the club emphasizes ‘security, comfort and privacy.’
Now out of power and government, Dr. Chikamnayo has been a serial commissioner in Abia. In fact, he has been a power broker since 1999!
A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain before he allegedly decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chikamnayo was also a commissioner in former Governor T. A. Orji’s two tenures. Dr. Chikamnayo is now a tycoon. Those close to him alleged he has many properties in and outside Umuahia, in addition to his other business portfolio.
