‘No, it’s GTBank that’s owing me N70 million’ –he defends

SUSPENDED Executive Director of Finance, Information and Technology of African Petroleum Plc (AP Plc), Mr. Clement Maku Aviomoh is currently swimming in a debt mess.

The source of his present ordeal is the N149,000,000 (One hundred and forty nine million naira), he is allegedly owing Guarantee Trust Bank (GTBank).

According to the bank, Aviomoh is yet to pay the N125,000,000 (One hundred and twenty-five million naira) loan he secured from them on December 21, 2007.  We confirmed this in two separate letters GTB wrote to AP Plc.  The bank’s lawyers, Seyi Sholoja first wrote AP Plc on the matter in a letter dated July 23, 2010.  GTB requested to transfer Aviomoh’s monthly salary and terminal benefits to offset some of the loan.  They also wrote AP again on July 27 on the same subject (the letter was from the bank’s Institutional Banking Division).

In a similar development, the management of AP Plc has accused the former Executive Director of launching a media campaign against the company and its chairman, Mr. Femi Otedola.  The management in a statement defended his suspension saying it was to ensure that he doesn’t interfere with the on-going investigation of allegations of fraud against him by the EFCC Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE).

Aviomoh was kicked out of AP Plc after numerous allegations arising from a certain N24.5 billion shares scandal that rocked the company, recently.  But in a swift reaction, the embattled ex-AP Director gave it back to GTBank,, insisiting they were the ones owing him.

Aviomoh alleged that the bank is indebted to him up to the tune of N70 million.  He later referred us to www.saveafricanpetroleum.com where he assured us we would get all the facts of his ‘fight for justice in AP Plc.’

“GTB is owing me N70m.  We are in court.  What are the allegations from AP?  Please, visit www.saveafricanpetroleum.com for my fight for justice in AP Plc,” Clement Aviomoh defended.
