Former lawmaker, Rotimi Makinde moves into multi-million naira country home

It’s certainly a joyous moment for former lawmaker that represented Ife Central Federal Constituency, Hon. Rotimi Mikail Makinde. And the reasons are obvious.

ENCOMIUM Weekly was informed by a reliable source that the entertainer turned politician has relocated to his home town, Ife, Osun State. Not only that, he has permanently moved into his multimillion naira mansion at the centre of the ancient town.

The edifice, we learnt, was completed before 2015 general elections and it served as a convergence point for his teeming supporters during and shortly after the elections which he lost out to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate.

However, the vibrant politician cum entrepreneur has decided to keep in constant touch with his people, which informed his decision to move into the new abode.

ENCOMIUM Weekly was told, Makinde has since started strategizing for the next governorship election in the state, which we learnt he has made his intention known to some of the traditional rulers in Ife Kingdom, including the new Ooni, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi (The Ojaja II).

The architectural masterpiece, we were informed, sits on one hectare with sprawling car park, an event hall, studio, library, swimming pool and much more.

As if that’s not enough, Makinde, the source said, has also completed his radio station, Oodua FM, along the same route within the town. The idea, we were told, was to rival Senator Omisore’s Crown FM also within the same vicinity.

The project, ENCOMIUM Weekly was informed, is worth millions of naira and may be commissioned before the end of first quarter of 2016.

“Rotimi Makinde has finally moved into his multimillion naira country home with his beautiful wife. Even, I learnt he has relocated permanently to Ife. I learnt he is eyeing the governorship seat of Osun state in 2018.

“I learnt he has been consulting the traditional rulers in the state, especially those within Ife Kingdom. But the way things are going, the battle line between Makinde and Senator Iyiola Omisore is still there and will remain till 2018, when the governorship election will hold in the state.

“Even on Sunday, January 3, 2016, Hon. Makinde celebrated his birthday at his Capricornia Hotel, Alagbole, Akute, Ogun State. And four traditional rulers from Ife Kingdom attended. I learnt they all wished him well in his political ambition.

“Also, Hon. Makinde’s multimillion naira radio station, Oodua FM which will soon be commissioned was completed a couple of months back and being test-run at the moment. But very soon, it will be officially commissioned. I learnt his aim of floating the station is to prepare for the next governorship election in the state.”

ENCOMIUM Weekly’s efforts to gek Makinde’s reaction on the news couldn’t yield the desired result as all the calls put through to his mobile phone were not answered. We also sent him a text which was not replied till we went to press.

However, we later got across to his publicist, Mr. Sanya Ojo, who confirmed the development but argued that the radio station was not established to brighten Makinde’s political ambition but to serve the people of Osun State generally.

“Yes, it’s true, Hon. Makinde has moved into his country home permanently, and the edifice is worth over N250 million. He has been living there since 2015 general elections but it has not been officially opened.

“He has also floated a radio station called Oodua FM. But it’s a baseless rumour that he’s floating the station because of his governorship ambition or to checkmate Omisore’s political ego in Ife and Osun state as a whole.

“Hon. Makinde is well loved by his people. I don’t think it’s until he does that that he can get their support. And to set the record straight, Makinde has executed a lot of projects in Ife that no other politician’s achievements in recent times can match. And he has not stopped doing that. Even that’s one of the reasons he paid a courtesy visit to the new Ooni, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi a couple of days back. He used the opportunity to discuss how they can both rebuild Ife being the cradle of Yoruba race. So, Hon. Makinde is still doing greatly for his constituents despite losing out in the last general election.

“Hon. Makinde doesn’t have to relocate to Ife permanently for any political ambition as being speculated.”
