Star actor and director Fred Amata is in a joyous mood following the recovery yesterday (Monday, July 4) of his stolen metallic gray Lexus 470 jeep in Ejigbo area of Lagos. The SUV was snatched in the early hours of Saturday, June 25, in Surulere, by armed robbers who later dropped him off in Fadeyi on Ikorodu Road after slapping him several times.
The President of the Guild of Directors, a Nollywood veteran from the illustrious Amata family of film makers, Fred was on his way home in Surulere after an event on the Island when the robbers accosted him.
When Encomium.ng spoke to him this afternoon (Tuesday, July 5) at around 3:07 pm, he was laughing and grateful, thanking all those who offered prayers and support following the robbery.
“We give God the glory”, he enthused. “The jeep was recovered somewhere in Ejigbo, and l was informed by the investigating police officer (Corporal Idowu Ayodele). She called me around 11 am yesterday. The key was missing when it was recovered.”
The automobile has been towed to a safe location as efforts to get the key is underway.
