Facebok’s CEO, Mark Zuckberg (31) announced that a special satellite is set to launch soon with the aim to provide free internet to remote parts of Africa.
Users will have free access to sites like BBC News, Wikipedia and Facebook.
The initiative is part of the free mobile data scheme (Internet.org) to make users gain free access to the world wide web. The special satellite, still under construction, will be ready for launch in 2016.
According to a statement from Facebook’s CEO, ‘Connectivity changes lives and communities. We’re going to keep working to connect the entire world – even if that means looking beyond our planet.’
