Free man! Lagos court clears Fani Kayode of corruption charges

One of past President Goodluck Jonathan’s mouthpieces, Femi Fani-Kayode can now walk the streets with his head held high as a Federal High Court in Lagos earlier today (Wednesday, July 1, 2015) discharged and acquitted him of corruption charges.

The former aviation minister had been in the dock since 2008 for allegedly laundering about N100 million while he was minister of culture and tourism, and subsequently, aviation minister.

In her judgment, the presiding judge, Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, said the prosecution’s case was ‘feeble’ and failed to provide ‘copious evidence’ linking Mr. Fani-Kayode to money laundering.
