From Wizkid to PSquare: Here are five reasons to be at Livespot X Festival this December

It’s a common saying that Christmas is the reason for the season. Yes, for Detty December, music fans in Lagos already know that Livespot is the festival for the season. And this season is full of pleasant surprises. Besides being scheduled to hold at a purpose-built venue, Livespot Entertainment Centre, Livespot X Festival is bringing back a season of exciting, multi-sensory and hybrid events for six days starting from December 16.

An initiative of Livespot360, LXF is a fusion of over 50 incredible live performances. This edition would feature the Afrobeats diva, Tiwa Savage, Grammy award winner, Wizkid, Afrosoul’s new flame Tems, dynamic duo, P Square and award-winning DJ, Spinall.

For music fans who are yet to decide whether to embrace an outdoor event at this period of the pandemic, here are five compelling reasons to break the chain of home-bound entertainment.

Number one is the safe venue. The venue is secured and equipped in compliance with Covid-19 protocols for large gatherings. There are designated spots for hand cleansing. The wearing of facial masks is necessary to gain entry into the venue.

Secondly, the first day has its headliner, Tems. The fast-rising singer shot into the international limelight with her collaborative track with Wizkid titled ‘Essence.’ The song got Tems her first Grammy nomination and Billboard Hot 100 entry, peaking at number 9.

Day two of Livespot X Festival would have Wizkid headlining the event and performing live alongside other Nigerian artists.

On the third day, the reunited twins, P Square are having a comeback on the third day of the festival after their split in 2015. The duo who recently announced their reunion are prepared to bring nostalgia back on stage.

Globally, the music industry has a history that is full of stories of reunion of disbanded music groups: Abba, Spice Girls, Outcast, Black Eyed Peas are some of the world’s leading pop groups that had stage reunions after being estranged for years. Even when the rock foreman, Freddie Mercury left the Queen, he returned for the Live Aid Concert in 1985 for what would be remembered as their most famous performance of all time.

With P Square, music fans can only hope that Livespot X would be a fresh beginning for the twins who parted ways at the peak of their career. That spirit of love is worth spreading at this yuletide period.

The fourth reason to be at Livespot X is that it gives room for the audience to be enraptured by other performing acts like Buju, Omah lay, Simi, Ckay, Ladipoe, Wurld, BlaqBonez, Jer, Lovn, ShowDemCamp, Lady Donli. Also, Spinall will turn up the energy with some ‘mad skillz’ at LXF 2021 on the sixth day of the festival.

The fifth reason is Tiwa Savage. The sexy singer will enliven music fans with her most celebrated song of the year from the Water and Garri album, ‘Somebody’s Son.’

The Chief Creative Director, Livespot360, Darey Art Alade says this festival will be ground-breaking with regard to Covid-19 protocols.

“At Livespot360, we are committed to providing world-class entertainment in a safe and secure environment for our live audience. For this season of the Livespot X Festival, we will ensure that all the Covid-19 protocols are observed. A compliance team has been set up to ensure that our festival attendees are safe and well-entertained. We have headliners that have shut down major performance venues in the US and the UK. Livespot X festival is our contribution to reviving the economy, bringing back the flavour and spreading the joy of the season,’’ he says.
