Fuel still sells above N87 per litre – Nigerians bitter for non-compliance by some filling stations

Despite the order by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) that no filling station should sell fuel above N87 per litre, some are still not compliant of the call as fuel still goes as high as N120 per litre in some filling stations.

Some Nigerians ENCOMIUM Weekly spoke to on the ugly circumstance called for the arrest and prosecution of the owners of the stations.

‘I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY WE KEEP HAVING FUEL ISSUES IN THIS COUNTRY’ – Femi Olayanu

I bought a litre for N100 in my area here in Fagba, but yesterday I bought at N87. I don’t understand why we keep having fuel issues every now and then. I thought with the resolution that was reached the last time it would be a thing of the past now. There was queue, but not very long. Sometimes, I think the marketers and filling stations are the ones causing this scarcity. It’s not real.

‘THE REGULATORY BODY IN CHARGE OF PETROLEUM PRICING SHOULD GET WORKING’ – Promise Chris

I have not bought recently but I have been noticing queues in the last week or so. I really do not understand why we keep round pegs in circles. It’s like you kill this fuel scarcity beast and it grows another pair of heads in its place. I think the regulatory body in charge of petroleum pricing should get working. They should be very proactive, carry out checks at intervals at filling stations without prior notice. That way they can catch them in the act and close up their stations.

‘SOME FILLING STATIONS ARE STILL SELLING FUEL ABOVE THE OFFICIAL PUMP PRICE OF N87 PER LITRE’ – Bilkisu Majiyagbe

Some filling stations are still selling fuel above the official pump price of N87 per litre. Even, in my area yesterday, a litre of petrol was sold at N110. If you think you want to buy it at N87 per litre based on the announcement by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) that means you are still dreaming.

And I don’t see the threat by the DPR to close down those selling fuel above N87 per litre working. So, the Federal Government, via the new Nigerian National Petroleum Resources (NNPC) board constitutes a regulatory body that will be monitoring all the marketers and their respective filling station across the country. And anyone found wanting should be made to lose his or her license.

‘FUEL IS BEING SOLD AT VARYING PRICES PER LITRE’ – Nnanna Nwachukwu

Fuel is being sold at varying prices per litre despite the call by the DPR that it must be sold at N87.I don’t need to mention names, even NNPC filling stations don’t comply with the price. I think FG should constitute a Task Force (TF) that will be dealing with non-complaints. We are tired of all these nonsense.

‘I STILL BUY AT N87’ – James Oluwafemi

I still buy at N87 per litre but at a specific station. I make sure I stick to the same station. They should be arrested and prosecuted.

‘I BUY BETWEEN N90 TO N100’ – Toye Solomon

I buy at N87 per litre. I try as much as possible to patronize the same filling station, unless they don’t have fuel. If they don’t, I buy between N90 to N100. They should lock up their stations for five years.
