– ‘I Feel Honoured’, he says
National Coordinator of Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams has personally confirmed his appointment by Alaafin of Oyo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi as new Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland to encomium.ng on Monday, October 16, 2017. He added that he’s honoured about the new title.
When contacted to confirm the story, the fierry leader of OPC responded excitedly, “Confirmed. I feel honoured about it. I will talk to you later on it. Thank you.”
On Sunday, October 15, 2017, Oba Adeyemi announced the appointment during his 79th birthday in Oyo. It has since been generating mixed reactions among Yoruba elders as some okayed the declaration by the influential monarch while some believed the title belongs to a more accomplished and older Yoruba son than the Arigidi Akoko, Ondo born activist.
