Gen. Bajowa celebrates in-law in grand style

The country home of Princess  Bar. Oluyemi Bajowa, Ode – Ayeka, Ondo southern senatorial district was agog over the weekend as the entire community came together to celebrate the life and time of The Lumure of Ayeka kingdom, HRM Oba Fredrick Bode Aiyelomi , who joined his ancestors on the 19th of February, 2019. 

The celebration, a weeklong programme had started at the beginning of the week with different ceremonies by various groups and societies at Ode – Ayeka in Okitipupa Local government area.Distinguished and very eminent personalities joined the families of Bajowa and Ayelomi at The Methodist Church, Ode – Ayeka Local church, venue of the outing and Thanksgiving service for Late Oba Bode Ayelomi as the church auditorium was filled to capacity.

In his sermon at the church event, Very Revd M.A Ogunsiji , who had served as vicar at Ode Ayeka Methodist church during Oba Ayelomi’s life time, described the deceased Oba as an exemplary Christian, a staunch community pillar, a quintessential royal father and a father to all in his domain. The priest , while tracing the background of Oba Ayelomi noted that the royal father was born on a Sunday, thus his name was “Abosede” which was eventually clipped to  “Bode” to agree with his masculine gender.

Ogunsiji praised the doggedness of Oba Ayelomi, whom he said single handedly built the Ode Ayeka Methodist church with his personal money. He noted that Oba Ayelomi had a position of prominence in the church and a steadfast member whose death is a huge vacuum both in the church and the town.”Saints like Oba Ayelomi who turned people back towards the path of righteousness will continue to shine forever ,” Revd Ogunsiji enthused.

While quoting from the book of Revelation 32, Ogunsiji encouraged Christian faithful to be mindful of their Christian conduct, stressing that whatever we sow, we shall reap.Children of Oba Ayelomi, family members, well wishers and invited guests all filed out with dance and songs for the Thanksgiving.Gen Bajowa (Rtd), the Jagunmolu of Ikale and his friends donated over a million naira towards the development of the church.In his tribute , Gen Bajowa said , ” kabiesi Alayeluwa, our Royal Father, like play, you are gone forever , until we meet again to part no more! Our consolation is that you lived a good life at 90 years and left behind a monumental legacy.” Gen Bajowa , a son- in- law to the departed Oba noted that Oba Ayelomi’s reign witnessed unprecedented development and progress in Ayeka kingdom, stressing that he felt honoured to have been bestowed the title of Ojagbulegun while his wife also received the chieftaincy title of “Iye Ojagbulegun  of Ayeka kingdom” from Oba Bode Ayelomi. Gen Bajowa maintained that he and his wife will continue to uphold the dignity of royalty of Lumure and will continue to cooperate with the Ayeka council of chiefs for the development of Ayeka kingdom.

Princess Barr. Mrs Oluyemi Bajowa also in her tribute noted that Oba Bode Ayelomi was born into royalty , grew in nobility , lived and walked  in the splendour and Majesty of the throne. Princess Bajowa described her father as a pacesetter, a ground breaker, a peace lover , a barrier destroyer , a lover of his people, a fighter for justice , a dream merchant for all that is good that became a reality in your domain and beyond.  ” You instilled in me the legacy of the fear of God , truth , honesty , hard work, love, humility and many more. You taught me that my position as a princess comes with service to others ; ever since I had learnt and imbibed a positive attitude to serve my people and humanity in general. Bami (my father) I remain very grateful for this,” Princess Barrister Oluyemi Bajowa said.

The reception and entertainment of guests followed at the palace of Lumure, where Gen Bajowa’s long list of distinguished guests from all walks of life  were feted to sumptuous menu as The king of Juju Music , King Sunny Ade held the guests spellbound with his sensational lyrical tunes.Beaming with smiles, Gen. Bajowa and his delectable wife, Princess Yemi Bajowa went round thanking all the guests.No doubt, the high octane party at Ode Ayeka will be the talk of the town for a long time.Among the dignitaries at the event were Senator Boluwaji Kunlere, Hon Michael Omogbehin, Member House of Representative; The Chairman of Okitipupa local govt council, Mrs Morenike Alaka,  The Chairman of Ilaje Local govt council, Hon .
