Amstel Malta brand ambassador and Nollywood superstar, Genevieve Nnaji will host eleven outstanding Theatre Arts students across the country at an exclusive pre-AMVCAs mentorship date this weekend, courtesy of Amstel Malta.

According to Amstel Malta brand manager, Hannatu Ageni Yusuf, “The initiative came to life because the brand which has been the official sponsor of the AMVCA since its inception in 2013, felt a need to encourage these Theatre Arts students who have done well in their academics and give them a tip of what to expect in their career paths”.

The eleven students who will attend the AMVCAs courtesy an all expense paid trip and makeover sessions from Amstel Malta: Bare Mitchel Uzuajeme, Jesse Bankole .O, Aribisala Ayobami, Kalu Nnamdi, Korie Priscaline, Ode Isaiah, Uniloh Fidelia, Isong Mfoniso Effiong, Okiriguo Princewill Ehis, Mark Jonathan Tukura and Okuku Precious, were selected across five prestigious institutions in the country: University of Lagos, University of Nigeria Nsukka, University of Port Harcourt, University of Benin and University of Abuja.

Kalu Nnamdi, leading 400Level Theatre Arts student of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, expressed his delight at the invitation. He says, “This is such an amazing opportunity coming on a platter of gold. It really came to me as a huge surprise. I have seen Amstel Malta’s involvement in the movie industry for a long time now and it feels really good to be one of the beneficiaries this time. I’m really eager to meet with the other students in my field and most importantly the very talented Genevieve. Sincerely, I really can’t wait”, he said.

In support of the fast growing Nollywood industry, which is currently the second biggest industry in the world, Amstel Malta will also be rewarding 4 award winners at the AMVCA with a million naira cash prize each: Best Male in a drama, Best Female in a drama, Best Movie-Drama and Overall Best Movie(Movie of the year).

“This is one of the many ways the brand hopes to support the industry and encourage people to be the best they can be in their fields. First of, we decided to award winners of four AMVCA categories with a million naira cash prize each but then we thought it important to encourage those who aspire to make such feats in the future. The selection was strictly based on their academic performances, which we think deserve some form of commendation and reward’’, Hannatu adds.

The students will arrive Lagos later this week ahead of the AMVCAs. The Technical awards will hold on Friday, March 6th at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre and the main award event the following day at the same venue.
